Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Salvador and embark on our journey into the Recôncavo Baiano, one of the most historically and culturally rich regions in the state of Bahia. Let's go!

After a pleasant drive of approximately 1 hour, we'll arrive in Santo Amaro da Purificação, a colonial city steeped in Afro-Brazilian heritage and religious syncretism. There, we'll visit its market, a vibrant space brimming with tropical fruits, spices, medicinal herbs, and typical Bahian culinary delights.

Next, we'll stroll through the historic center of Santo Amaro to admire the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Purificação and the main square. Did you know that this town is the birthplace of musicians Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia?

After a 1.5-hour tour, we'll embark on a 45-minute journey to Cachoeira, considered one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Bahia, which we'll explore for 2 hours.

Its cobblestone streets and Baroque facades will transport you directly to the era of imperial Brazil. We will visit the Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos, the Chapel of Our Lady of Help, and the Ordem Terceira do Carmo, the latter famous for housing religious sculptures with oriental features. We will also see the Santa Casa da Misericórdia and the Igreja Nossa Senhora da Conceição do Monte.

During the tour, we'll learn about the Irmandade da Boa Morte, a historic Afro-Catholic brotherhood formed exclusively by Afro-descendant women. Halfway through the day, you will have 30 minutes of free time to enjoy the local cuisine on your own.

After lunch, we'll pass by the old train station and cross the Dom Pedro II Bridge over the Paraguaçu River to reach São Félix, just a 10-minute walk away.

Once there, we'll discover the legacy of Bahia's tobacco industry with a visit to the Dannemann cigar factory. As a special treat, we'll see the churches of Jesus Menino and Senhor São Félix, two of the city's main religious sites.

Finally, after spending an hour in São Félix, we'll begin our return journey to Salvador, where we'll say goodbye and drop you off at your hotel 8 hours after pickup.
